About this event

Grief, Loss and Self-Care for Aboriginal Health Workers

Overview

Aboriginal Health Workers and those in related roles have a vital role in providing primary and clinical health care for Aboriginal individuals, families, and community groups.

Being able to support Aboriginal people dealing with grief, loss, and trauma requires an understanding of these issues as well as an acknowledgement that these multiple roles can affect the wellbeing of Aboriginal Health Workers. This one-day workshop is informed by the latest research and best-practice and provides opportunities for participants to consider relevant cases or issues they’ve encountered.

Although this is for Aboriginal Health Workers and Liaison Officers only, PaSCE have another workshop available for all health professionals and allied health professionals Ways of Working with Grief and Loss in Aboriginal Communities

  • Understanding the relevance of current grief and loss theory to the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal community members
  • Apply grief and loss approaches to support Aboriginal community members
